I think that also Italy it's way too high in that list. (11th!)
it sound really strange, considering how much is difficult enter a full time elementary school (the most of our elementary schools are opened only during the morning, just the full time ones keep children also during the afternoons), and in general how much disperse our programs are . Without considering the percentage of teens that don't finish the high school (in some areas of south italy it's near to the 20%. a lot of them neither start the high school).
I'd say Finland. Its been pretty good so far for raising my child apart from the lack of parent-child clubs like baby/toddler clubs, although there's probably more of them in the cities. Loved the 3 years paid to stay home, loving the cheap but high quality childcare now, looking forward to the highly rated education. Plus safety - kids can play out unsupervised here with no need for parents to worry.
Free education, a lot of emphasis on childcare, quality kindergartens. Among the safest and richest countries in the world, even in this economical depression. Second-best education in the world. I think Finland won the "world's best country to raise a child" -survey.
The birth rate has been falling, so even more resources are put into childcare.

That is amazing. It is sad to see how stressed new mothers are here in the US. Daycare for a normal middle class person is practically a whole pay check. Plus, you have very little time to be with your baby before returning to work. For new mothers, this is especially hard.
Or, people with student loans- they never go away.
There is objective universal standards and subjective individual preference simultaneously in finding out all those best places to bring up children, and raise a family.
Quality of Life, Caliber of Education, Social Evolution, Health Systems & Standards, Quality of Food, Lifestyle, and Community Services are all accurate, and correct standards in a stable environment to have children. Although, some factors are more objective than other traits.
I think Life-Work balance to Parents, Marriage Stability, Maternal Benefits, Economic Wealth, Cultural Wealth, Easygoing Laid Back Relaxing Environment, Quality of House or Apartment, Safety, and Forms of Social Security Benefits are all additional equally important standards to families, and children.
One main report in relevant methodology shows best countries to raise a family, including outside perspective: Expat Destinations: The Best Places to Raise a Family : : Expat Info Desk This report says these countries rank well on top: Belgium, Spain, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Singapore.

Would like to read others' thoughts and beliefs about which country is the best for raising a child/ren.
Factors would be things like quality of life, caliber of education, social evolution, health system and standards, quality of food, lifestyle, community services, etc.
Please share any supporting data links.
Speaking only theoretically here. Pretend one already had the requisite paperwork to live in any given country.
Thanks in advance for any replies!
I think the best country for me to raise my children is the USA where I was born and raised and my children were born and raised.
There is no way I could choose a country other than the only one I know since I have no lived in any other country.
Since we were all born here no trees would have to be killed for requisite paperwork.

Yeah,no surprise here,at least not many.
If you read other surveys you'll see that many children are very unhappy in most of the countries that are in the top 10 of your source. Having free healthcare and education is not everything.

You know, it turns out that the individuals who work in daycare in the US get paid minimum wage in most cases, which makes me wonder - where is all that money going?
Most European countries are far more supportive of mothers. While I was living abroad and had my first child, I was able to stay home for the first three years of his life. Here, in the US, I was back at work full time when my daughter was barely four months old, and had just been hospitalized for a week right before I had to go back to work.

There are many unhappy children everywhere, not just in the top 10.

I'm sure there are, but there is an even greater number in those countries.
