The ocean is a must. Mountains are just a nice addition. Would be very weird to live far away from the coast.

mountains. i'd even choose 200-300m hills before the sea. wavy topography makes the surroundings much more interesting imo.

I really love having both. But if I imagine living in a totally flat land next to the ocean...or in a mountainous area with no ocean...I guess I would choose the mountains.

Default Either

The PEOPLE make the place for me wherever I live, be it near the ocean or mountains.

Sounds like the cup is always half empty here, Negativity. Then I see for his location --it has between two Big Rivers. GUESS THIS PERSON IS NEXT TO TWO SEWERS. You could say a case for flat though, over downhill or downstream? I didn't quite get why my hometown put commentaries on top of the mountains with housing going downhill from it. Good the land is stable. GIVE ME A NICE FLAT BEACH IN A TROPICAL SETTING. I WOULDN'T MISS HILLS BY ME OR MOUNTIANS.

I do agree though, Great Lakes cities like Chicago are for the most part also Coastal cities too. Yes I know not exactly my tropical setting? But noteworthy.

Mountains any day....
Once you've see the ocean and beach that's it. Never changes except for faces and storms......
The mountains on the other hand are domestic, proud and tall. And with the weather comes changes of beauty, leaves changing colors, snow capped peaks plus the beauty of the valley below. Take me home oh lord to the mountains........

Sea is beautiful, but I don't like to stay in a beach town more than two days. I prefer mountains and cold climate.

Well, I would also choose a mountain region in Brazil by you Fabio, over the Amazon Rain forest by you? Just too extreme for tropical.
Everyone has a idea of a paradise for them, my paradise just would have no winter or very cold weather and has a beach. I'd never miss cold weather and I'm fine with flat. I live in the Appalachian mountains of the US. Mere hills compared to the Rocky Mountains or Andes. I don't find in winter going up and down and around them fun.

By the mountains but NOT on the mountains, as we would get cold moist weather.

So, in short, on the footsteps of a mountain.
