Why compare two cities that are so different? Comparing Melbourne to a US west coast or a Canadian city could be useful. There are enough similarities for the differences to mean something. But would you compare Portland to Prague?

Old world historic ambiance and culture to soak up: London10/10, Melbourne 0/10
Diverse nearby physical environment to balance with urban life: London 0/10, Melbourne 10/10
Laid back suburban (Melbourne) or urban (London).

But for me its Melbourne hands down.

Wow, didn't expect London to win, given that its not even on the most livable cities list of the world.

Aren't these polls usually about the demographics of forum posters though?

There'd be heaps more Europeans than Australians here. Europeans like European style cities, which is why they build them that way. And Aussies build Australian styles cities, because that's what we like. And I suspect there is some truth to the "Aussies love the outdoors" thing.

Pretty simple really.

Which of those two cities has more depressing weather? By depressing, I mean DARK clouds with a LACK OF sunlight. Melbourne's weather throughout winter(and late fall) feels VERY gloomy and depressing most of the time.

London often has sunny periods extending into late Autumn and early Winter even as temperatures start falling. It's really the post-Christmas period, from January - mid-March that is consistently overcast.

Today marks the start of the first properly rainy week we've had since the start of Autumn:

This is a tough one, but I feel like London is more dynamic, more global, and just more important economically, however I hate it's weather.

Prob pick Melbourne

Not so sure about London.
London has the south downs national park close by.

"Downtown" walking experiences compared. Both stunning in their own way.

I recommend turning the volume down on one video if you decide to run them simultaneously.
