There are a few places that geographically & climatically share similarities with California but culturally- none. There will be a few countries that will share a few parallels but nothing that would make them "alike"
California is a real unique mix of innovation...melting pot of human diversity...a certain dysfunction unique to this part of the world...it is unique not only globally but within the US.

Of all places, Spain is the most analogous to California. The climate is about the same, the main language Spanish is the same, both their economies are equally strong and the unemployment rates are about the same too.

Identical population densities, too. California's population is more concentrated into a couple of very big urban areas. Bay Area + Los Angeles > Madrid + Barcelona. Hard to compare urban vs rural, but 90% of Californians live in urban areas, 5% in areas classified as rural. 22% of Spain is classified as rural, and I assume more in small cities. Despite that, California has a very high agricultural output.
Sophia Antipolis in Nice metropolitan area (French riviera) is a pretty famous tech area.
Hmm. Sounds a bit Silicon Valley-ish, and I think I heard that name on the forum recently. But does it have Bay Area attitudes to life and work as well?

California's main language IS NOT Spanish. There is a lot of Spanish here no doubt but no, you're wrong. In fact like many US states, CA does have an official language and that happens to be English. Economies equally strong??? Again, don't think so. If CA were an independent country it would have the 7th largest economy in the world. Spain is like 12th or 13th or something. As of July of this year, CA's unemployment rate was 7.4% while Spain's was 24.5% Where the hell are you getting your information? Have you even been to California? You know what, you don't even need to come here. just research rather than making things up.
It is when you take into account all the illegal immigrants.

Again, just like the number of Spanish speaking people, there is a difference between official polished-up statistics and real life. At least Spain is honest about its unemployment rate.

It's not exactly the same. Most of Spain use to have slightly rainier and thundery summers than California do. Dry season is shorter in most of SPain too, and the far north is more related to Dutch climate rather than California, lol.
