Generally I have found that most Europeans like cities like L.A.Because its modern and far different than anything in Europe.
I dont go to Europe expecting to see a city like Chicago,Atlanta,Dallas etc.Why would I?I would just stay here.

Beats me.

Its not even 2nd on most American's lists, let alone anyone else. Somehow Boston is ahead of LA, Chicago, DC, Philly and SF. As an American myself I don't understand that. Its top 10 but not top 5 let alone top 2. I think Boston is just advertised well.

To all you international folks, if you want history, go to PHILADELPHIA. Its the BIRTHPLACE of the country and has more history than Boston does. It also has better weather and better food than Boston.

You know the Declaration of Independence, Liberty Bell, etc. Yeah, thats Philadelphia. You get nothing like that from Boston.

Most people (and by that I mean your average European) have heard of these things, but aren't emotionally connected to them. So, US history isn't really what's attracting the crowds. And otherwise Philadelphia looks a bit like a dreary and less affluent version of New York, which most people have already visited. But yeah, that's probably just bad marketing.

Still.

If any European is coming to America for history, Philadelphia should be number 1 on the list. Boston is probably 2.

No reason for Boston to be basically second behind NY and SF. Theres no way its more appealing than even LA or Chicago.

Boston is in a lower tier with DC, Philly, Atlanta, Miami, etc.

As an American, it boggles my mind. Its definitely one of the best places to visit, but not ahead of Chicago or LA.

Its like going to Liverpool before London or something.

I want to see the geographical diversity of USA. Can anybody suggest?

For photo ops, I want it to be in NYC, Miami, San Francisco, LA, Seattle, Chicago, Boston and San Diego.

I get the feeling that Europeans on C/D have the highest opinion of cities with a "liberal" reputation and the largest white populations. It's inexplicable that Boston could be higher than Chicago, and Seattle higher than Philadelphia. I mean, Seattle? Unbelievable. That's like picking Göteborg over Berlin.
