With the rise of Muslim fanatics attacking & killing non-muslims, why would any who isn't Muslim travel to a Muslim nation? Will Islam join us in the 21st century or continue to revert towards the 8th century?

I doubt I would go Syria at the moment (I did a tour through the country in 2003), or Iraq or Somalia as well, That is about it however.

Of course most of the worlds Muslims are South or East Asian, well away from the trouble spots in the middle east.

I tend to side with guys like Bill Maher and Sam Harris on Islam, but I have never felt threatened in muslim countries. Will prolly be in both the UAE and Malaysia briefly at some point in the next couple months. Not a fan of the religion but have always had a decent time in those places.

There are plenty of Islamic nations that are safe; UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, West Bank, Maldives, Qatar, Oman, etc.

Muslims make up over a billion people on Earth. While I agree that there is a dangerous extremist element that is gaining popularity in Islam its important to consider how tiny that really is in related to the billion adherents of the religion. Interestingly enough, most Muslims do NOT reside in the tumultuous middle east but in south east Asia in nations such as Malaysia and Indonesia. Plus let's not forget that not all of the middle east is more dangerous than anywhere else. The news is going to focus on troubled areas because its interesting.

I went to Egypt last year and nothing happened. That's actually a good summary for most of my experiences in this world: I went somewhere that people warned me about. And nothing happened.

By east Asia I mean any country to the East of Bangladesh, that is still considered part of continent. Which includes south East Asia.

I guess I'd travel to a Muslim nation for pretty similar reasons for why I'd travel to non-Muslim nations.

Being muslim doesn't mean to be a terrorist and killer. There are many muslims in Iraq and Sуria that now are fighting against ISIL.
