10. Thailand: 45 sex workers per 10,000
Prostitution is actually illegal in Thailand, however in practice it is tolerated and partly regulated. 9. Germany: 49 sex workers per 10,000
Unlike other European Union countries, prostitution, even street prostitution, is wide spread, organized, and legal in Germany. It’s little wonder when you consider that organized prostitution in the country dates back to the 1200’s AD.
Nobody could possibly know how many sex workers there are in any country, and obviously those countries where it is legal are the ones where high numbers would be reported and unchallenged. I wouldn't depend on Miami-based sex-tourism vendors to issue reliable reports.
In my sleepy south-Texas town, I would bet that the number of women who would do it for money and/or drugs would be statistically comparable to those Top Ten stats in the article. Fifty per 10,000 would be 350 girls, and such a low estimate would be laughable.

I would not say that street prostitution is wide spread in Germany, I have never seen a street prostitute here, I guess they exist. Maybe if you count those working out of a RV along the road but nothing like in Spain, France or Italy where they are standing along the roadside all over the place.
This list is complete nonsense. Venezuela doesn't even belong in the top ten, much less the top spot. It isn't a source country (whereas its next door neighbor is perhaps the biggest source country in the Americas) and it doesn't have a foreign-oriented scene anywhere in the country. Doesn't even have that large of a domestic market. What a joke.
Surprised Cuba isn't on the list...I think it should be!
It's not even the biggest scene in the Caribbean. DR wins that one by a significant margin.
