Carnival is coming to an end today (Mardi Gras) and i wanted to make this question before its end. Is it a holiday in your country? Are there any carnival parades on Mardi Gras? If so, what are the most known parades?

In Italy each region has its own parade, our parades usually feature political figures (For example, Angela Merkel:http://i.embed.ly/1/display/resize?k...edia&width=810), groups of dancers and masks.

The most famous one are the Venice Carnival (Known for the masks and the Volo dell'Angelo: http://hotelsantelena.com/sites/defa...o_angelo_0.jpg), the Carnival of Viareggio (The largest one and known for the satirical of political figures) and the Carnival of Ivrea (Known for its battle of the oranges: http://data.nikla.net/uploadimages/b...lle-arance.jpg)

In fact most companies here close not only Tuesday but also Monday, though it's not oficially a holiday.
All the major cities have carnival parades, but the most famous is the Rio parade, by far. However, most of people in Brazil spend these days in the beaches or in travelling somewhere else, and others dancing (and drinking, and dating...) in some of the numerous street parties.

Here they stay open, unless they're found in a parade town, which are about 80. It's different for schools though, here many of them close on Monday and Tuesday for Carnival. Carnival seems more of a deal in Brazil, though, the Carnival of Rio is known all over the world, as well as the Carnival of Recife and Salvador to a lesser extent

The Caribbean and South American never seem to disappoint during carnival season. There are always so many colorful, fun parades and events with plenty of dancing and good eating! The New Orleans has a good carnival season, too, but, on the whole, its still not as colorful as some places, though its certainly more colorful than other places.

The only place that celebrates carnival with a parade in the USA as far as I know is New Orleans, LA.
