Yes China having a Billion People and massive influx to its cities. Surely today has the Most High-rise construction.
THE US WAS ALWAYS THE LAND OF SINGLE HOMES, FOR THE MASSES. Skyscrapers were originally for Offices and Businesses. But Much of European cities still has plenty of Low-rise living centuries old up to 6 stories. The US but for NYC and Chicago. Did not build high for living quarters, for most of the 20th century.
But cities now have been building more especially in their downtowns, with Condo's and Apartments. But most in US cities are HIGH-END HOUSING Not for the MASSES AS CHINA. Surely in the America's Mexico City and Sao Paulo, with NYC? Surely have the most high-rises for Living. Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver and Rio de Janeiro? Would be the next level.
THE THREAD DOES ASK FOR BEST LOOKING SKYLINES... not those with most high-rises?
However, it's difficult to say in the world what is the best skyline. That of NYC appears to be that to which every city wants to be compared - while I find the Chicago skyline more interesting. Personally, I like the skyline of Santiago, not because of the buildings themselves, but because of the visual harmony of the city and the Andes in the background.
Nah, Chicago and Sydney are tiny compared to Shanghai.
Size isn't always everything. Of course it matters to an extent, I don't think anyone is putting Louisville up for most beautiful skyline, but Chicago's is big enough to be on the world stage.
Shanghai is on a completely different scope size wise, but more isn't always better. I find lakefront Drive and the Loop along the Chicago River to be some of the most impressive sights of a skyline out there, not saying it takes the cake as number 1, I'm still humbled by New York City, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and others of course.

Do you have any shots that encompass all or most of the skyline of Sao Paulo?
Size isn't always important when it comes to cities skylines.... many of those skylines in Asian and Latin American cities are huge but most of the buildings are sooo ugly...
