Hello.
I'm finishing up with college soon, and I want to start looking for jobs in a good place for me to settle down. However, I am not sure where this place might be. I've started doing research, but I am not sure where to look. Can anyone point me to a city that fits all or some of the following descriptions?
  • Small (or at least not the big and busy type)
  • LGBTQ Friendly
  • Diverse
  • Peaceful
  • Near another city that has exciting nightlife
  • Good public transportation

Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you

I think Brighton in the UK is what you're looking for, not a large city (163k inhabitants) but not far from London (one hour of train away), it's known for its large LGBT community, it has a relatively diverse population and has decent public transportation, it also has an exciting nightlife for a city of its size.

Thank you for all of your input.
@improb: Brighton seems beautiful. I love the beach!
@BIMBAM: Reading seems like a lovely option as well.
I will have to dig further to decide which one of these I like better :-)
@RtuWe34: I was considering London. I have heard that it has at least four of my bullet points. But I think I will be looking at smaller cities near it instead. It would definitely be nice to be close enough to visit regularly on the weekends :-)

That is not meant to discourage people from suggesting big cities, of course (esp. if they fit many of my descriptions above). Big cities might lead me to suitable smaller ones nearby. I just want to consider the world before deciding where I will settle down and make a home. But it is so big, I can use some direction.

Of which country are you a citizen? You will probably not find a job in another country as a fresh graduate. You need a few years of relevant experience to be taken seriously by most overseas employers. You may have to start out in a less than ideal place.

any medium size city in spain will do. Valencia, Seville and Malaga would be my picks. If you didnt completely rule out big cities, Madrid and Barcelona are great places to be as well.

Thank you all for your replies!
@jtur88: So far, Samara, Guanacaste in Costa Rica looks like a good choice. I will look further into it.
@kikebxl: Thank you for providing so many great suggestions! Malaga is my favorite out of those so far. However, it would be nice to be near Madrid or Barcelona. I will look into it.
@Brontosaurus: I am a U.S. citizen. I have been looking into jobs in the U.S. that will allow me to travel. I completely understand your point. Still, I would like to set a goal :-)

Ahahahaha Don't make me laugh!

To the OP DON'T move to Brighton, lol I'd say for a English City move to somewhere in Outer London like Clapham, Brixton, Acton, Camden Town or Dalston.

Or how about White Plains outside NYC?
