In the United States, especially following the events of 9/11, displaying a flag outside your front door became very common practice. It's still common today, depending on where you're at. I find it most common in the working class to middle class neighborhoods. Usually the very poor and the very rich don't bother with it.
However, in your home country how common is it for people to display a flag of their country outside their front door?

Not common at all unless there is an official flag day. You might see something like this on Constitution Day, but not huge flags covering walls. That's considered tacky.

Interesting.
I don't want to jump the gun but is patriotism stronger in the U.S. vs other countries?

Could be. We are quite patriotic in Norway as well, but decorating our homes with huge flags is not a common habbit here. We instead show our patriotism in annual parades.
In the US, I see as many flags from other countries on peoples' cars as I see American flags.
I've noticed this myself, and have intended to create another thread on it. But over the past few years I see a LOT of European cars with a fake European license plate on the front. It's mostly on the German cars or the Mini-Cruisers I've noticed, why is this a fad suddenly to display fake European license plates on your imported car?
