So it's no secret that Sao Paulo bears many a towering skyscraper, but at street level does its streetscape and resulting pedestrian friendliness (or lack thereof) more resemble that of New York City or Los Angeles?

Los Angeles.
Interesting! have you visited both Sao Paulo and Los ANgeles? If so, what similarities did you find in the streetscape/street-level vibe?

Remember that Brazilians are very friendly people in general...Sao Paulo has a rep for not being as friendly but that is in comparison to other parts of Brazil...I would imagine pedestrian friendliness to be greater than LA or NYC

Sao Paulo doesn't really have many skyscrapers. Most of the tall buildings are highrises.

Sections of Sao Paulo give a NYC-ish feel while other areas is more LA-ish, and then there are areas that are uniquely Paulista.

I don't think São Paulo look like any of those.
