Imagine if Mexico city "Tenochtitlan" had kept its lagoon intact.... it'd be a sight to witness!

How did it disappear? Thanks to the Spanish or the Mexicans later?

Both actually. Draining the lake -to avoid flooding and make room for growth- has been a task in the works for the past five centuries. Up until the beginning of the XX century, there were some canals left in the city, that have been either tapped or drained. The only remaining area that still have canals is Xochimilco.

The spanish also burnt the Mayan library containing the recorded history of the Mayan people, of several other civilizations in the Americas that came before them, and astronomy, math among other things.

In South America they did similar to the Incan records.

All in the name of God!!! (it's not Holy Roman Catholic!)

Reminds me of certain religious extremists today!
