I find it quite interesting that the sources of humor that are funny for some cultures are distasteful and unacceptable in other cultures.

I am not familiar with the sources of humor for many cultures.

Oh, I see...

Here in Brazil, stereotypes are an important "source of humor". We see many jokes based on stereotypes here, all kinds of stereotypes.... Stereotypes related to professions (lawyer, doctor, nurse, politician, farmer, soccer player), stereotypes related to regional origin within Brazil, stereotypes related to neighborhoods within some major cities, etc...

Ethnic jokes were popular when I was growing up in an extremely ethnically diverse area back in the 80s, but I can't say I have heard more than a couple in 25 years or more.

There are still some comedians doing ethnic humor I happen to like some of it. I agree there used to be more I graduated from HS in 88.

Oh, I agree there is some ethnic humor (especially by ethnic minorities), but the old one-liners like "How do you get a one armed Pole out of a tree? Wave." have mostly seen their day.

In Italy it is certainly politics, followed by everyday life, man/woman relationship, grammar and at the end stereotypes.

Ethnic jokes would probably even be considered offensive in a few contexts
