The Anti-Homosexuals thing was a joint thing by all three major religious groups in Nigeria. The Christians- (Certain verses in the bible were two cities were destroyed by god and both filled with homosexuals, also a few U.S preachers apparently spread homosexuality across Africa), The Muslims (Probably from the Quran), Those who practice tribal religions (It isn't manly at all, and many of them believe deeply in manliness. they also don't have many open homosexuals to jail so passing the law doesn't really effect them at all, this is why often you see men wearing next to nothing bathing together or dancing, because not many identify as a homosexual in Nigeria especially rural villages). I will not say it is a Muslim thing at least in that country, as well as multiple African countries. Also the law was in response to the laws the U.S passed. Most African countries would have never cared to make anti-homosexuality laws as the people who openly claim homosexuality is usually not even half a million in an African country, but then the U.S started making a huge thing about it and ended in our Christian President suddenly pledging to remove the "scourge of homosexuals", by listening to the people.
These are not my personal beliefs I am just trying to dispel the notion that the Muslims who weren't in power at the time have anything to do with it and it was equally supported by all three religious groups so Nigeria although Muslim Majority or Plurality (between 49% and 51% one of the few countries were although Muslim Population is growing it is decreasing percentage wise due to Christians having just as many children but with better access to health services."

And yet liberals (regressives) completely trivialize this atrocity.

How do you imagine that banning Islam in the western world would make all the rest of the world a better place? Have you thought about the logic of that?

By the way, a Muslim can defect from Islam if he wants to, he just can't remain in an Islamic country if he does so. Just as an American can renounce American citizenship, in order to avoid being taxed by America for the rest of his life, but can't stay in the USA and do it. Seems pretty much the same, to me.
Islam in not merely a religion, it's a flat out ideology.

Banning the ideology of Islam in the western world wouldn't make the rest of the world a better place, indeed, but it would make the western world a better place in general.

We repeat: You can't "ban" a religion; no authority can control the values in an individual's mind -- save by outright murder; You can only prohibit such actions as infringe upon the basic rights to life and liberty guaranteed to all men and women.

If we can't ban Islam i propose Muslim intellectuals rewrite the Koran which later has to be approved by the majority of the world's governments. Real democracy that is.

Your "real democracy" reminds me of the story of a group of six-year old boys who found a turtle. They couldn't decide if it was male or female, so they "voted" it to be one of the guys -- didn't change the fact that it began to lay eggs a few days later.

"Real democracy" can too easily devolve into tyranny by the majority -- driven by a powerful elite who seek to control the media. Protection of minority rights and freedom of thought is a step or two further ahead in "new" societies like the United States, Canada and Australia than is the case in the class-conscious Old World. (But fortunately, just about everybody's moving in the right direction).

You have about as much chance of "Muslim intellectuals re-writing the Koran" as you have of ISIS holding a pig roast -- in a gay bar.

It seems to me that the most conservative Americans seem hell-bent on "liberalizing" Islamic countries. In other words, converting them (with bombs and torture if necessary) into fundamentalist Christian theocracies.

Would you like to see a map of the countries where criminal sanctions are imposed on use of alcohol by persons age 20, or countries whee the legal age of consent is higher than 17? Or restrict access to abortions? And those are all crimes punishable by imprisonment (in other words, trivialized atrocities)? Or with the highest incarceration rates for "trivial" crimes? Or where there is still capital punishment? Or countires that use the threat of nuclear weapons to exert their will? Or countries that have publicly admited that torture is a useful and acceptable way of gathering security information?

It wasn't the fault of the liberals that Americans fought two wars to retain and conserve slavery, after every other republic in the hemisphere had abolished slavery.
