Maybe Slovakia profits a lot of the tourism in Vienna, since its capital, Bratislava, is less than 100 km far.
However... I visited Vienna for three times and never went to Bratislava...

I think Iran and most of the middle east have the same problem.

A lot of Eastern Europe gets overlooked by Americans, Asians, and other non-Europeans who would prefer to visit Western Europe. I mean if you only go to Europe once in your life will you choose France, England, Italy or Poland, Slovakia, Estonia.
Russia has a lot of tourists from China.
Even North Korea has quite some tourists from China.

Romania only get 2 million tourists per year, neighbors Ukraine, Hungary and Bulgaria get 13, 12 and 7 million tourists.

Why

Where do you get these numbers from? Could you post a link?

Well, many guys from Western countries travel to Asia or Eastern Europe for sex tourism. This is a disturbingly growing trend...

On topic though:

Gabon and Equatorial Guinea for me -. I've been looking to pick a gem in Africa to travel since like ages, yet these two countries I mentioned got me very interested the moment I read somewhere how they're more developed than central European countries. But the reason I'd rather skip them even if I was a multimillionaire having all the time in the world to travel are: blatant corruption, ebola.

I'm sure many people avoid Africa due to diseases and the "rebels".

Tiny 3-star hotel room costed me $110 per night. It was within a 2 min. walk from one of the most famous nightlife districts of the city tho.

1 Corona in a non-strip club will cost you $6 to $7 in strip clubs you pay double.
Hotels are expensive everywhere. Why didn't you stay in a hostel?

Japan doesn't have to be all that expensive, but I might worry a bit about the radiation problem. I think the key to affording it all is to get out of central Tokyo.

Stayed in a 4 star hotel room with sea view in North Beach, Miami and that was only $75.
I don't do hostels, just want my privacy, can't sleep good around strangers.

But seriously:

Hungary: Budapest, enough said.
Ukraine: sex tourism;
Bulgaria: "Sunny Beach".

Romania? 18 years old chicks from America who want a guy like "Edward from Twilight" and his amazing vampire hair will visit Transylvania...but that's about it, not as many tourists and I can see why.
