It definitely goes the other way around! Many Americans want to be like Europeans. That's why we don't let go of our heritage. I'm half French and half Czech. See, we flaunt it!

My guess is that most Americans don't hate Europeans. Not enough Americans can even find Europe on a map and too many take what the media says about Europe at face value instead of doing their own research...

Most Americans hate Europeans (especially the French). Why? I have no idea. I suppose it is because the mainstream media tells them to (just watch FOX NEWS). Although, most of these haters are conservative/ extremely uneducated. I, on the other hand, am in love with Europeans and their wonderful culture.

As someone that you would probably call conservative and would probably agree is educated, I would disagree with the statement that most Americans hate Europeans - even the French. There is truth to the notion that some people did not like the way the French government handled the Iraq situation. That is far different from saying that most Americans hate the French.

I don't think Europeans hate Americans at all. They just hate Bush and hate the fact that he was reelected.

Does the US hate Europe?
No, we simply feel better when Europeans are not around.
More seriously, no, far from it. Most have visited or lived there and find a lot to admire and like. Sure, a good many of us feel Europeans are somewhat arrogant and hyprocritical, but that's their history and on an individual level, they are like anyone else.
And hate? Bit of a strong word, don't you think?

i think hate is a little too strong of a word, maybe dislike. i think americans in small populated areas do not like europeans for the lack of education. most people in these areas dont know much outside of their area and do not like things that are "different". if you look at the big cities in america, the majority of the people do not have any issues with europeans, in fact they love them and their culture. on the flip-side, europeans view on america has diminished a lot..somewhere between dislike and hate. the problem is they are hypocrites in the sense that they stereotype americans just like americans stereotype europeans. not all americans are lazy and fat, which seems to be the common perception with most europeans. many europeans strongly dislike americans because of thie issues we face today (wont open that can of worms) but they are also being ignorant in the fact that its the those "elected" in the office have made the dramatic changes everyone has dealt with lately. many of the people do not agree with the way things have been carried out. the problem is the type of government...democracy...it has worked for a period of time, but things change and democracy is not what it used to be. many countries in europe are jumping on the eu bandwagon, willing to abandon some of their traditions to be a part of the eu because the eu thinks that they know whats best for the people
