Santorini is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places I've ever seen.
The caldera is magnificent.
Oia is the the place to stay unless you are a 20-something backpacker, in which case you might prefer Fira. The Oia sunsets are gorgeous.
Stop at the little travel agency and they will set you up for the Volcano boat excursion. You will participate in a gentle hike up the volcano (you can still see fumes) go for a dip in the mud bath, swim it off, then go for a nice lunch at Perissa (incredible view.) Upon your return, you are put on a donkey to get back up the Santorini cliff. We had a great time.
