I'd like to visit somewhere that is peaceful, natural and people are friendly and accepting to outsiders.
Today I spotted Greenland and Iceland and realized I know nothing about them nor do they ever seem to make the news or brought up in conversation.

Iceland had a volcano eruption in 2010 which caused many delays in European air traffic.

I have been there. Nice and peaceful, although expensive. Depends where you live, the summers are not really cold - around 15-18C. Very low unemployment rate. Must like the midnight sun, or no sun for few weeks
I would like to visit Greenland too ...

I've been to Iceland. Quite a magical place. And weird. The sulphur smell is terrible.

Greenland was in the news today for having the highest suicide rates in the world by a factor of two over the second place.

Suicide in Greenland is a significant national social issue. According to government reports, between 1/4 and 1/5 of Greenlanders attempt to kill themselves at some point in their lifetime.[1] Greenland also has by far the highest suicide rate in the world: reports between 1985 and 2012 showed that an average of 83 people in 100,000 committed suicide, more than twice the rate of the second placed country.[2]

This is not to say it is a horrible place, but the culture there is confronting some demons.

A couple of buddies of mine graduated from Reykjavik university and now live in New Jersey.

That's pretty much all I know about Iceland.

Iceland is gorgeous. In terms of landscapes, nature, and also not that crowded. Ocean shores, volcanoes, waterfalls, glaciers, hot springs etc. It is a bit pricey for tourists though, and weather can be rather gloomy / rainy even in summer.

Greenland has a high suicide rate because 5 months out of the year it is pitch black, notice Alaska also has high suicide rates for the same thing, also it is desolate so imagine living with a small amount of people in perpetual darkness alone far from a town more than 1,000 people then you will not feel happy at all. Greenland is also has the highest murder rate in Europe.
