I would say France is Germany's best friend. You know "only France is worthy of Germany, only Germany is worthy of France". But then, Italy is also France's best friend.

I thought that the American constitution precludes the use of a national identity carda.

The enemy of your worst enemy is your best friend.

Malinche's syndrome, after Cortez's lover. According to such a syndrome, Mexicans always love their worst enemy.

There's always a love-hate relationship btw neighbours.

There are no BFF, as such things change. BFF in Europe can be measured in Eurovision.
For example, Ukraine won't vote Russia.
Spain's best friend are France, Italy, Portugal......and worst is US.
As in the US, 99 percent of the media hates republicans..so people are saturated.

The US is an independent country thanks to France, as a country we never fought a (real) war with France, we bought about one-third of our territory from France, and France gave us the Statue of Liberty, we came to the aid of France in WW-I and helped liberate France in WW-II. We like French Fries and attribute unusual, exotic or sexy stuff to France.

The US is too narcissistic to have BFFs. The US loves itself and only itself.
