Most people in the U.S. are white. In fact two-thirds of the U.S. is white, and the U.S. was 80%+ white only 20 years ago. And many nonwhite Hispanics are basically white in appearance.
So why would it be surprising that most people on American TV are white? Wouldn't it be very odd if this weren't the case?
When it goes as far as Whites playing a character that isn't white, I think the complaints are valid:
As if it wasn’t enough that Hollywood lacks serious diversity behind and in front of the camera, the industry also has a nasty (not so) little habit of giving diverse roles to white actors.
Well you should watch Australia commercial TV and Australian adds and it appears 98% are white. except for multicultural stations. Yet no one in Australia would ever claim Australia is 98% white.
The little bit of exposure I have of Australian media seems to support what you're saying.
Yes most americans just look american, FOr example George W Busch, Id never confuse him for anything non-anglo, He would be assumed as american anywhere in mainland europe.
Oh well, George.W.Busch has English and some German ancestry and distant Dutch, Welsh, Irish, French, Scottish roots. It is also true that most American at least 38 out of 43 presidents before Obama had some British Isles ancestry. Most Americans on the other hand has multiple European ancestries.
HAving some german ancestry doesnt make you german. Also many of the german ancestry in the US is from switzerland and eastern france, not germany.
The most common ancestry by far in the Us is Scotch-Irish, and its backed up with immigration data and even looking at modern day white americans. Irish-Italian is by far the commonest mix.
German ancestry is the largest ancestry for White or European-Americans whether you want it or not, according to the US Census. Scotch-Irish? Ha!ha!ha!
Regardless of what you think, 86% of European-Americans have Northwestern and Central European ancestry. German-Americans have also contributed a lot to mainstream American culture. Germans have been immigrating in significant numbers to the U.S., since the late 1600's. Germantown, Pennsylvania was founded in 1683 by Germans. They came from various places in Germany (former Prussia), Alsatian-Germans settled in the Louisiana area under French rule. Many of the so-called "Red Coats" in the American Revolutionary War were Hessians, many of these mercenaries hired by the British crown remained in America after the war. Even Russian-Germans (Volga Germans, Mennonites) descendants of Germans invited to settle Russia in the 1700's by Catherine the Great. There were also other Germans from East Friesland who settled the Midwest. Many of these East Frisian Germans kept in touch with their relatives on the other side of the Atlantic for a very long time. Between 1820 and WWI , six million Germans immigrated to the U.S. Do you have a clue of what you are talking about?

anglosaxon? England is only like 10-20% anglo-saxon genetically, 10-15% mix of other elemens (french, norman, viking, roman) and 70% native brytonic. I wonder how Americans became anglosaxon when the average white american woman is a bleached blonde who doenst look scandinavian or german at all. If hair dye would be banned in the US then you would see how few women are actually blonde in the States. I dont see much blonde men in the US , very few compared to central/north/east europe
Many Brythonic women are blonde-haired, stop fooling yourself!
Never thought the US as an Anglo Saxon country as always saw it multiracial. Yet of course it shares cultural links to Anglo Saxons, but it never been really like an Anglo Saxon country like England.

England is no more 'Anglo Saxon' than the US! Have you any idea how 'multicultural' the UK is?
England , Britain, was never Anglo Saxon majority it was propaganda . England natives are mostly Brythonic
