There's almost always someone vote-ramping New York and London in these polls, so they're generally useless.

Beyond cogent arguments and counterpoints in the thread proper, if you want a survey of preferences that is more familiar with objective reality, try something like: The Wealth Report 2016

Objectively speaking, I would say NYC too. But - I'm a little tired of it because I go there all the time.

It's the "been there done that" factor.

That wealth report reflects the opinions in this thread almost exactly.

It's the same few cities that are the biggest centers for global wealth.

If you ignore the poll, yes.

The great thing about NYC is that everything is so compact and quickly accessible by subway or even just by walking. Even the richest and most iconic places in Manhattan are. It feels like the world is at your doorstep.

Kind of amazing in that way.

Wrong. It matches the poll. The same cities.

Also, you're not even understanding the link you're posting. It's not a ranking of the most common destinations for high-income folks, which is what we're discussing here.

It's a poll of city preferences for certain business types, which is why you have tiny cities like Geneva and Zurich ranked alongside (or above) huge cities/massive wealth centers like LA and Tokyo.
