I think the Netherlands is good enough. If you don't like it there's always Holland.
True but the thing is that many Dutch outside the provinces North Holland and South Holland are not a big fan of the name, especially those in the Eastern half of the country.
American but it wouldnt be united states since we arent really united. We just happen to be next to each other and tolerate everyone.
Hope this is not too off topic, and not trying to start a debate, but I have had several conversations with Argentinians that are put off that we "call ourselves American when that's the name of both continents," and they claim they have just as much right to being called American, and that we should change our name. Anyone else encountered this? Any Argentinians care to offer some input? My response is usually 1) People from the Estados Unidos Mexicanos call themselves Mexican 2) Our official name is the United States of America, as the first country to declare independence in the Americas, it was only natural to claim that name. A group of States united in the Americas? Lets call it the United States of America. What should we call ourselves.. United Statsians?
It just depends which language you're speaking.. these are their names in Spanish. Why can't we call every country by its name in its own language? For example Hungary = Magyarország ... okay.. maybe that's a bad example
