Australia and New Zealand seem to have more in common culturally speaking with the "Mother Country" more so than Canada has, in spite all 3 of them belonging to the Commonwealth of Nations to the point it seems like the odd one out.

One example of Australia's and New Zealand's British culture is Sport, Rugby Union is still a popular sport (especially in New Zealand), Australia has Rugby League and their own code AFL in various states.

Canada has Ice Hockey!

and many countless examples where Australia and New Zealand could be considered more British than Canada,

why is this the case?

Many commonwealth countries play Rugby and Cricket, and Canada has had renewed interest in Rugby and indeed Football (soccer) in recent years. I note that Toronto was beaten on penalties by Seattle in the MLS Cup just the other day.

Furthermore Canada has Ice Hockey for a reason, as it's a winter sport and Canada hasn't rid it's self of British sporting culture, as it always had it's own sports.

Canada is also much more influenced by the US than the other countries you mention for obvious reasons, however it should be noted that the American national sport was at one time Cricket.

In terms of Rugby, it is popular in countries such as France and Italy, whilst Cricket is popular with many Caribbean communities in the US and Canada, and also has some popularity in other parts of Europe such as the Netherlands.

Because it's a foreign country and its people are nothing like the English culturally.

The british did not really export soccer for some reason. If it were not for the large post WW2 immigration from the European mainland, soccer would hardly exist in Australia.

I was talking about Canada in relation to Football (soccer), the Australians have always played Rugby and Cricket and their own Football game.

The Ashes is probably the most popular event in the Cricketing Calender, and the Australians play and enjoy watching both Rugby Union and Rugby League.

Whilst the New Zealand 'All Blacks' are one of the most famous sporting teams in the entire world.

Canada has bilingualism, more multiculturalism and a border with the United States. Australia and New Zealand are geographically isolated.

Canada has bilingualism, more multiculturalism, and geographical closeness to a cultural superpower (i.e. the United States).

Australia and New Zealand are geographically isolated.

American Football is probably more popular in Canada. My First cousins are Canadian and they rarely mention Cricket/Rugby.

I have also visited a few areas in Canada and didn't see too many Cricket pitches... My cousins neighbourhood community had an American football pitch though..

Probably not a great synopsis of Canadian support for sports but it's at least some experience.

Why has Canada rid itself of its British culture ....... ?

It hasn't. Canada retains much British culture but it has also incorporated many other cultures and their practices, all integrated into the greater whole.

Besides having ice hockey as a national game as opposed to the various ball games played on a field, what other examples do you have of Canada ridding itself of British culture?

As a possible point of interest to you, sports historians say the game of ice hockey comes down derived from an ancient Gaelic field game called hurling: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurling

.
