I've oftentimes wondered if you climbed to the highest point of any country, on the clearest day possible, what could you see? How far?

Mexico? Can you see the southern reaches of the U.S or see the highest peak in Colombia?

Europe? From the top of the highest Alp?

Chile/Argentina? From one of the highest peaks in the Andes?

Africa? Nepal/Tibet?

Mt. Washington in New England?

The highest point in Israel is Mt. Hermon at 9,232 feet (2,814 meters) above sea level and you can see quite far into the neighboring country of Syria: Welcome to Hermon Page.

Australia's highest point is Mt Kusciuszko (though it's techincally called Mt Townsend), at just over 7000 ft and you can see quite a long way from the top. Though not into another country of course.

canada's highest point is Mount Logan
5,959 m (19,551 ft)
there is now way I could climb it
with the median temperature for the year around −27 °C (−17 °F). and taking 30 days on average to climb it.
I would see other mountains and since it is the yukon I bet could see mountain ranges in alaska

It's pretty flat here in the Great Plains region (Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska), but the skies are tremendous. In the spring you can see the thunderstorms coming from tens of miles away.

Growing up in Oklahoma City, my friends and I would sometimes drive to the northern outskirts of town, find a nice hill in the countryside, then spend a few hours drinking beer and smoking weed while watching the storms come in. Once they arrived, we'd race back into town with the storms hot on our heels.

Probably sounds boring, but being that close to such huge forces of nature was actually pretty cool.

Here, in Las Vegas we have Mt. Charleston(11,918) to the north. I've climbed up to the Meadows at 11,000 feet, and from there one can see the Sierra Mountain range in CA some 200 miles away, and see the highest Mt. in the 48 states, Mt. Whitney at 14,500 feet.

I would imagine, from there, one can see the Pacifc coast, San Francisco, to the west, one could see Las Vegas and, like here at Mt. Charleston, one can see 300 miles south to Mexico, on a very clear day.

Up in the Cascade mountains of Washington state, one can see the Andromeda galaxy, and that's about 2.5 million light years away. (Sorry, I couldn't resist. )

Galdhøpiggen is the highest mountain in Norway. It is only 2,469 m above sea level. I have been there, but I guess the view is ok.
