My neighbourhood in Vancouver is called Yaletown. It's an old warehouse industrial district that has been transformed into a residential area. It's filled with converted warehouses and newer condo towers. The seawall, which encircles all of downtown and further, also passes through this neighbourhood.
This video is a bit inane, but some say that's Yaletown
He says the Roundhouse was a train station. Anyone who knows what a roundhouse is, knows that's not true.
Yaletown is great for celebrity watching. They all pass through, or stay here, either in rented condo's ( I got to go for drinks with Sir Ian Mckellan at the condo he was staying at ) or sometimes at the Opus Hotel. The Dixie Chicks stay there, as did Cher...among many others.
Friends have seen just about anybody who is anybody in the movie world. Lots of stories LOL . Celebrities seem to be more at ease when visiting here. You can bump into them doing some shopping, or having coffee. I think it's because most people do not bother them.
I like living here because I can walk to the beach, ride my bike for many, many k's without a traffic signal, and can easily enjoy the other downtown neighbourhoods just by walking a few minutes.
I should add that the first photo is not quite detailed in regards to neighbourhoods. Downtown actually includes the business district, the West End ( very residential ), Coal Harbour and Gastown.
Here's a little more of my parent's region. As I get older the call to go there rings stronger, it helps that its such a beautiful, peaceful place full of picturesque coffee farms dotted around the mountain tops in the traditional local architecture.

Lol I just realised I went to Ariete's hometown unknowingly after creating this thread.
I must admit I was underwhelmed by Turku, I thought it would have more to it as the old Swedish capital of Finland. The area around the river was nice enough.
