I see Esperanto as a remarkable success story, by far the most successful auxiliary language. It has survived wars and revolutions and economic crises and continues to attract people to learn and speak it. Over 750,000 people have signed up to the Duolingo Esperanto course in the last year. Esperanto works. I’ve used it in about twenty countries over recent years. I recommend it to anyone, as a way of making friendly local contacts in other countries. Esperanto is useful as well as serving as a good introduction to learning other languages.
Wow, you sound like a used car salesman.
You literally set up your account just to make that sales pitch

Well it was originally designed as a lingua Franca, but since English took that role it's pretty useless in that regard. However it is a great tool for introducing people to learning other languages. It's very easy to learn (from what I hear) and gives you a good grasp on what grammar is and how languages are constructed, on top of that the vocabulary is based on real words from other languages so it makes it easier to learn other European languages afterwards.
Created artificial language... great, I can create one too - not today - but in few months/maybe years.
My opinion is that I have no idea why so many people learn it and don´t understand why someone learned Esperanto from birth as native language it makes to me 0 sense. In this globalized world when languages are more important than ever before why would anyone waste tiime with NOT REAL language, learn English and 2 most important languages in your region of the world not some language for fun that someone created.
Seriously for me Esperanto is joke just like those American nerds ,,trying to speak,, some artificial language from movies, Tv-Series. - i think in Star Wars/Star trek was some artifical language that is popular among some Americans.

Try saying that to Esperanto fans, and they'll brazenly be like "well you ignoramus, English is a mishmash of Latin and German, so it isn't a real language too". Lol.
I may be very behind, but I only found out recently that Esperanto was a constructed language (hence the creation of this thread).
I used to think Esperanto was some Romance language in Spain, and that it was closely related to Catalan. Lol.
