He really didn't and quite frankly these racial tensions had always been boiling under the surface. Obama is a handy scapegoat for a few people. If you are hell bent on blaming a president for social friction then you can also blame Reagan and Bush I for the same reasons. The amount of racial tension today is the same as it was in the late 80's early 90's.
I think Japan has reached such an incredible level of development that it just can't grow enough with the top 5 in the future. Korea, SA, and Israel they don't even come close to the big dogs
Japan has an enormous aging population and population contraction problem. It's tough to have economic growth when your population projects to shrink from 125 million down to 90 million by 2050 with just about 1 retiree per worker. Low birthrates. Zero immigration.
South Korea has the exact same problem. Ditto just about all of northern Europe.

Nah. The whole permanent underclass problem is lack of mobility. The LBJ Great Society programs and their replacements have always been administered at the state level. If you're mired in the bottom 20%, you're getting state assistance with Medicaid, Section 8 housing, TANF, WIC, SNAP, and similar programs. In 1950 before those existed, you moved to where the jobs were or you starved. Now, you're stuck in one place because all those programs for the poor won't work if you move out of state. Obama had nothing to do with that at all.

Usage of those programs was expanded under Obama, so while I agree with your premise that those programs are social poison, I don't agree that Obama did not have a hand in making things worse for the lowest tier of society.

I voted for him in 2008 because his snake oil sucked me in and because I was PO'ed at the Republicans over Iraq. I gave him a chance and he came up way short of the mark.
