with that you can by a one bedroom or studio (40square meters)in a ok neighborhood in São Paulo. Or you can buy a 2017 mercedes c300.
In a part of Chicago you'd actually want to live in, you're looking at studios here and there for $100k or less, in addition to even fewer one bedrooms in further out neighborhoods. Nothing fancy or updated though. In neighborhoods that are the reason why Chicago's crime makes international headlines, you can get whole houses with multiple bedrooms for half that. Many are falling apart.

From Realtor.com - $100,000 to $120,000 locally.

Tyler, TX Real Estate - Tyler Homes for Sale - realtor.com®

I'm surprised at some of the charming 1930s and 1940s homes on this list! And they are in decent neighborhoods. Cool.

Yep, I live in Southern California and you can't even get an efficiency apartment sized condo for $100K. The most run down tiniest houses around here start at around $500K. And the salaries do not justify the prices of real estate. It's all about supply and demand here - demand is high, supply is very limited.

In Seattle, you could maybe buy a parking garage space for $100K.

Perhaps half a studio that looks extremely shabby in Taipei I suppose. I'm not so sure.

Nothing. A 428 square foot studio apartment downtown Vancouver, is going to cost you at least $400,000 CDN or $318,000 USD at current rates.
