Brits mainly head for the Mediterranean resorts, although Paris and other cities are popular detinations via Eurostar trains and budget airlines. France and Spain are the two biggest detinations in terms of British tourists as you can see in the article below.
Many stay close to home here in New Mexico but among those who travel in the last few years it seems to be Spain, Ireland, Baja California in Mexico, Cuba, cruises (Alaska, etc.)
Houstonians mostly stay within driving distance with Galveston (Southernmost part of Houston metro), New Orleans and San Antonio being the most common international/plane flight for me is anyone's guess but the usual places London, Mexico (Cancun or Relatives or relatively nice parts of central and southern Mexico) and Paris should be up there. Inside the U.S Florida (Disneyland/Disneyworld Bush Gardens/ Universal etc.) as well as NYC and California partially because a lot of Texans are cali transplants.
Mexico, Caribbean (especially Dominican Republic and Cuba), Europe (especially southern Europe). Many people have cottages near lakes north of the city and spend vacations there too, during the summer.
Lots of people with relatives around the world spend vacations visiting their relatives.

For holidays Japan is by far the most popular one, the others don't even come close. China is only popular amongst middle-aged and old people, people go for business for the most part.

2. Caribbean Resorts (All Inclusive/Beaches), Cruises also but not quite as many
3. Nashville
4. Appalachian Mountains (Mostly in and around Asheville, NC though)
5. Historic Southern Trinity (Savannah, Charleston, New Orleans all about equal)
Other places are kinda secondary though, most frequently visited far out destination would likely be SF area, Boston and NYC are reasonably popular also, and many go home to wherever they were from, or family is at.
Cleveland, Ohio (Where I am from, this one isn't in order)
1. Local (again most common, out downtown, Put in Bay, Cedar Point, Wineries, Hiking at CVNP/Hocking Hills, etc.)
2. New York City and Chicago get about Equal Numbers
3. Niagara Falls and Upstate NY (ranging from Chautaqua to Ithaca)
4. Nashville
5. All inclusive beach resorts (Mexico/Caribbean)
6. Las Vegas
7. Florida (Disney/Beaches)
8. Carolinas (both mountain and beach side, but beach side more often)
