The last article, the business insider seems to forget the GPE metro in Paris, which is the biggest project in Europe. With 200 km (124 miles) of new metros lines and 68 new train stations for 26 billions euros.
It is currently in construction.

Not sure if this counts, but I'm really excited with the whole virgin galactic project Richard Branson is undergoing. I've been following it for about six years. Slow progress but hopefully it would be ready by 2025. Some of the stuff Elon Musk is doing is great.

It certainly should have been mentioned, not sure it's the largest project in Europe, as there are other projects that I have failed to mention including in the UK that are equally costly such as Hinkley Point C Power Station, which is currently being built at a cost of £24.5 Billion.

HS2 is going to cost at least £43 Billion, as for Crossrail it has cost over £16 Billion and Crossrail 2 is set to cost a further £30 Billion, with the planned Heathrow Expansion set to cost £20 Billion, although they are looking at reducing costs by extending the runway in another direction rather than bridging the M25.

There's also Thameslink another rail project costing £6 Billion, and London Overground, and the London Undergrounds Northern Line is currently being extended with proposed Bakerloo line and Metropolitan Line extension, whilst further expansion of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) has been announced.

Thames Tideway Tunnel ia vast new super sewer tunnel running through central London, to provide storage and conveyance of combined raw sewage and rainwater discharges that currently overflow into the river Thames. Starting in 2016, construction of the Thames Tideway Tunnel is expected to be complete by 2023. The current estimate of its capital cost is £4.2 billion at 2012 prices.

How does Hinkley C compare with the UK?s other mega projects?

Jesus

How can you build a high speed train for 43+ billion £ ?!! Is it traveling at mach 1? The new high speed line Paris-Bordeaux that opened this year cost 7,8 billion euro (5/6 billion £ I guess) for 300 km of new line and is operating at 320km/h.

There's something wrong somewhere.
