So, by this, I mean the singular most impressive man made building/structure. I tried to make it a somewhat comprehensive list of all time structures that are still present, and made it with a number of generations in mind. Here is my short list, though if you have ideas for others that would be able to stand on top of this list, do let me know. I have:
-Pyramids of Giza
-Great Wall of China
-Taj Mahal
-Machu Picchu
-Angkor Wat
-Bagan
-Karnak
-Teotihuacan
-Acropolis
-Potala Palace
-TerraCotta Warriors
-Chichen Itza
-Petra
-The Vatican Complex
-Roman Colosseum
-Borobudur
-Burj Khalifa
-Alhambra
-Versailles
-Hagia Sophia
-Saint Basil's Cathedral
-Leaning Tower of Pisa
-Stonehenge
-Empire State Building
-Eiffel Tower
These are obviously all outstanding structures. But, say you were with an alien, and you wanted to show them one building or structure from history or present that showcases the outstanding prowess of humankind, which building would you take them to? In regards to being visually stunning, innovative, etc?
Generally, also would like to see the why behind why you are voting for the structure you are voting for? For me, I would have to say it's probably Machu Picchu, because building something like that would seem to be difficult enough at ground level, but up that high, it is especially mind blowing. Curious to hear your thoughts.

Have you been? How was the experience? Reading about it, I must say it is pretty mind blowing to think about how it was done. In terms of scale/size, that one stands ahead of many of these for certain. I would like to learn more about the process they went through to get it done.
Hmmm... I think the Great Wall. Taking into account its length (over 13,000 miles) and the era in which it was constructed (from 771–476 BC till 1878). More than 20 dynasties and states had undertaken the construction of the walls, section by section, bit by bit. Sadly, 1/3 of the walls have disappeared due to various reasons.
Only about 40 miles (70 km) of best preserved walls, northwest of Beijing, with stunning scenery and consummate facilities, enjoys the highest international reputation. Out of the halo, there are many other sections of the ancient walls lying wild and nameless. In fact, the countless dilapidated sections form the majority of the entire wall.
The building materials of the walls included the rammed earth, bricks, stones and rocks, and the mortar? it included glutinous rice flour - a very reliable adhesive.
The Great Wall is a real man made marvel to awe, in regards to the certain terrain it covers.
I always wondered if the TM was worth the visit...
I haven't been there. I just saw the photos but it looks awesome.
