Eastern Europe on the other hand: Daily terrorism, I repeat: daily!

Also there is no crime in South America, there is zero chance to get killed by Los Zetas. Just because this has never happened.
Not in Uruguay and Chile. Both of those countries are doing good and have relatively low crime.

Depends on whose standards you're judging as "low/high crime."

If you're looking for a new place to live, don't go by romanticism. Look at the facts. Look long and hard. The grass may be greener but it still has to be mowed. There are no perfect, idyllic places anymore. Each has their own set of troubles.

Australia and New Zealand come to mind right away. Japan, Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany all fit that description.

Yeah true. Uruguay and Chile are safe only by Latin American standards. The crime rate is still really high compared to developed countries.

Actually, yes, you can use blanket statements about the whole of Europe. What's happening in one country will surely spread to all of them. That's how Islamic terrorists work. That's their goal. That's their history.

Terrorist threats aren't the only thing to consider though. You mentioned Portugal. Portugal's King can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, overriding any laws or their constitution. They're also in drought (again) and the number of forest fires there keeps increasing. They're broke, interest rates are extremely high and they're a drain on the EU, which is about to collapse themselves.

Europe is gone. They just don't know it yet. Russia is run by an egotistical communist dictator whose without jobs or freedoms. The list goes on. Name a country you think is doing great?! Evidence will prove otherwise.

Make the best of where you are now and hold on tight. It's only going to get worse. And this coming from someone who is not a pessimist. Just looking at facts. Think the world is in dire straights? Buckle up. You haven't seen anything yet. These, right now, are the "good old days" compared to what's quite literally just around the corner.

Seeing as Los Zetas operate in Mexico (part of North America), your chances of getting killed by Los Zetas while being in South America are .00000001%

I agree about Switzerland. I don't think people really realise how hideously expensive the country is.
You're right, I was reading and even tho Swiss earn like $25,000 more a year than Americans, they actually have less purchasing power because of how ridiculous everything is. Taxi prices in Zurich are like 3x of the taxis in NYC which are already expensive af

People don't really care about statistics, it comes down to perception. If a certain threat gets a lot of exposure across different media, then there is going to be a higher ambivalence to travel, regardless of the low probability.
