How? London looks very grubby and so unattractive compared to Paris. Even on a sunny day, London can look so gloomy. I was in both back to back in the beginning of May and nothing in London tops strolling in Paris on a sunny day. Or an evening stroll with Eiffel Tower sparkling before you. Nothing.

I'd have to disagree, and I know Paris very well.

Firstly, in such conditions London looks far from 'gloomy'. It's vibrant, colourful, cosmopolitan and feels like the 'place to be'.

And in actuality, the worst parts of the Paris area look far worse than the worse of London.

I don't care if DC's where the government, it doesn't compare to NYC. Saying otherwise is completely denying reality IMO. Besides, are you going to tell me that Sacramento, CA is much more important to the state of California than San Francisco or Los Angeles, simply because it's technically the capital? Or that Albany, NY is more important than New York City? Or Springfield, IL over Chicago?
I guess no one on this board got the memo that finance owns the government in DC. So NYC would be the numero uno. But this state of affairs only will last if the US can maintain its role as the supplier to the rest of the world of its reserve currency.

It would be interesting to see how NYC will fare in global power projection when the dollar loses its reserve currency status. "Not well" is the euphemism that comes to mind. (And Adrien Brody's nose is "a little crooked".)

What kind of currency would USD lose its status to?I seriously can't think of any.Euro zone is merely hangin' there,RMB isn't stable as well due to the problem of PRC itself, the other rich and stable currency is nowhere as widely reserved(CHF,AUD,CAD).I'd say that USD still have a longgggggggggg time to live.
