Incorrect. According to Forbes.com Moscow, Russia leads in the number of resident billionaires. 74 of them.
Cities Of The Billionaires - Forbes.com

About 5 years ago Moscow also passed London as Europe's largest city. I have seen estimates from reliable sources that the Moscow area population is about 20 million.

Moscow also has the world's most extensive subway, the Metro with 176 stations moving almost 10 million people a day.

NYC doesn't come close.

Moscow is the center of a Russian economy that in 5-10 years could overtake France or the UK
probably since that list was made wealth in Russia has increased by a lot. It's not just the number of billionaires but the net worth of each too.

Almost all of Canada's companies are headquartered in Toronto, with the rise in oil, currency Canada's 2008 nominal gdp could reach 1500 billion dollars, exports and imports combined could make the top 8 list in the world (tieing with Italy while being ahead of countries like the UK, Russia and Spain). world economy relies on the US and the US Canada total trade is larger than US China (world's 2nd largest economy by ppp gdp) and US Japan (world's 2nd largest economy by nominal gdp) combined.
There are 5 Canadian banks headquartered in Toronto which a combined market cap almost the same as the biggest bank in the world.
Toronto Stock Exchange total value is almost the same as the Moscow and Sydney stock exhanges combined.
Top Ten Countries with which the U.S. Trades
List of stock exchanges - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the greater horseshoe area (around Toronto) has about 8.1-8.5 million people in about 31 thousand square km's. (and the province has a per capita gdp that would rank higher than the UK and France)
metro Chicago which has over 9.5 million people covers 28-29 thousand square km's.
Toronto has billionaires too one of them making forbes top 10 list every year (owner of Reuters) until this year (when India, Russia, and China made a huge statement).

If the metro area around Madrid was as large as US metro areas, Madrid might have close to 8 or 9 million people. Spain's nominal gdp also seems to be following the trend of other large EU nations, growing by a lot and putting some distance between it and countries like South Korea.

Wrong, the largest city in the world know the same phenomenon. it's not an exception, as for cultural history I don't think NYC could support the comparison with the european or asian cities.

certainly the joke of the day. Actually, HK is very well know for that ! after that we can talk about Moscow and its metro , Tokyo and Paris. The two last cities here have got the best transportation system, or at least the most extensive network..... and by far !

not true again, the most recognizable skyline is not NY , its too closed to Chicago for the people who don't know very well this topic.... Anyway, I don't have any better choice to propose.

Untrue, today, a russian earn about 5000 $ per year, a french and a briton earn about 35000. These figures are the ones of 2005, since the euro has got a bigger value , we can suppose the french have now surpass the expectation based on their own economy.

The world economy is not supported by the only US, you foolish yourself, we are not in the 80"s or 90's anymore, the things have changed, unfortunaly for the american people, Europe and China have now more importance than the Us economy.

So what ? you are making a comparison with a country and a city. Well I'd say why not but if you make the same comparison between Toronto and London or PAris, Toronto is still very very far from these both cities. Sorry about that.

What you say here is quite true, however, it doesn't change that four cities are still by far more powerful than any other ones in the world. These cities are NY, Tokyo, Paris and London, and for the moment no cities are closed to get over them. As for you datas about the cities you cited, Toronto it's 5 millions of people or you have to consider that London it's 14 millions of people for example. As for Chicago it's 7 millions of people if you use the same data for Paris you will have got more than 15 millions of people.... You cannot blend the datas as you want, if you want to make a comparison between two cities the scale you choose have to stay the same , you cannot compare country and cities as you like it, it doesn't make sens.

ok then if you don't want to use area
Greater London has 7.3 million people
London - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Greater Chicago has 9.5 million people
Greater Toronto has about 6 million people
There's a reason Toronto has the busiest highway in the world, it's greater area covers a similar size and has a population similar to Chicago.

not much of a difference according to that but if you look at the areas population it's clearly

London then Chicago with Toronto close to Chicago.

China's largest export destination : US
Economist.com | Country Briefings: China
if you include Hong Kong as part of China then Chinese exports to US are about 2.5 times larger than Chinese exports to its 2nd largest export market Japan.
People's Daily Online -- Figures: Top 10 trade partners of China's mainland in January-August 2005
Chinese exports 10-20 percent more to US than all of Europe.

EU's largest export destination : US http://trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/doc...doc_122529.pdf
major EU exports partners : 1 US 267.6 billion dollars, 2 Switzerland 86 billion dollars 3 Russia about 72 billion 4 China about 63 billion

EU exports to US are equal to the EU's second, third, fourth, and fifth largest export partners combined.

Japan's largest export destination : US Exports to the US are almost 33 percent larger than exports to China
Economist.com | Country Briefings: Japan

the US is still the world's largest export destination by a lot, and so the world economy relies on the US a lot more than on China and the EU.
A lot of those comparisons you give of Toronto to London or Paris are irrelevant since Milan and Singapore are also far from those cities but are listed in the same class.

List of countries by future GDP estimates (nominal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

(the link doesn't include the last bracket so add the bracket to the html)

2013 nominal gdp

UK 3.8 trillion
France 3.6 trillion
Russia about 3.5 trillion

a little rise in oil prices and that could increase Russia's nominal gdp.
if that trend continues 2014 Russia would probably be the largest.

looking at current economic trends (and that Russia has lots of oil) its largest city Moscow has to be at least on the same level as Milan and Chicago.

You want to compare Moscow with Chicago?? Get real. I've been to both and Chicago no way is in the same class with Moscow. The only American city that even comes close is NYC and it's still only half the size of Moscow.

The Russians are preparing to be a dominanat player in the world market. America is a fading star.

I know Moscow is good but the world class city diagram puts Moscow below Chicago.
I think it should be at least at the same level as Chicago.

Russia is doing really well but it has less than half the population of the US and one eighth the economy. It is still very far from the US but in the short run it is gaining a lot of ground on countries like France and the UK.

Right now though the facts are
Russia's nominal gdp is lower than Canada's and Spain's (countries with 1/3rd to 1/4th the population).
Russia's total trade is less than South Korea's.
Russia's per capita gdp is very low.

the good things are that it relies very little on the US for trade (so it could easily take different positions on issues without being threated by trade sanctions).
has lots of oil
gdp growth is comparable with China

swim73088 is on a distinguished road
the most impressive city in the world is NYC...for any tourist, seeing that skyline is certainly something that could take your breath away. but in terms of entertainment, shopping, travel, cultural sites...London tops it easily. London is charming but has a terrible skyline (as it does not have one at all) b/c of height restrictions. the only towers that dominate London's skyline are public housing blocks from the 60's lol
