Volgograd - Caricyn
Trabzon - Trapezounta
Madrid - Ursaria
I see that are first three are the same. The other ones are really cool as well. I’d say Volgograd is the only one where I like the current name better.

I have to admit that Kristiania sounds really much, much better than Oslo.
But "Bjørgvin" is unpronounceable for non-nordic people.

Oslo is far better than Kristiania. The latter sounds like a name of some fictional kingdom you’d read in awful T-list fantasy novels.

All named alternative names except Constantinople and Saigon look and sound WAY WORSE! What's wrong with you?

Foreginers, especially English speakers, will say Bjorgvin (Bjorg-vin), just like they say Bjork instead of Björk (Islandic artist). The ø / ö sound is similar to the the eu sound in the French word bleu.

Yeah, that's the full name.

I was under the impression that St Petersburg was just the anglicized version of Petrograd.

It was actually written as Tsaritsyn in the latin alphabet, IDK if it makes it any better.
