Quoting myself from an other thread:
Quote:
Only 100 times, why not 200 times then? I have had only a brief contacts with Lithuanians but I once had a college who was Latvian (if that helps). Once she started to talk about Finns for some reason and it turned out that her opinions were quite similar to yours although diametrically opposite. "Finns- what an unpleasant folk. Depressive-melancholic, boorish and primitive alcoholics. I always try to avoid those zombies", something in that style they were.
Needless to say that that was not my opinion but i just more or less quoted somebody's opinion but with that i wanted to point out that different opinions exist like the opionion of that Jeremy Clarkson guy was. And perhaps i just wanted to "calm down" Ariete's, me thinks unmotivated, rage against Latvians or Lithuanians. But it´s not like my business as my attitude towards foreigns countries is neutral.

As for Finns being the most happy - this was discussed as well here in an news portal and as well the fact that we are quite far from them in that respect. One of the most popular comments what i noticed was: "they (Finns) are sort of unpretentious people and thus they have sort of a low doorstep for the happyness". ? - Is that so, i don't know. Obvious is, what for instance here apart from having a lower quality of life people in general whinge, i certainly suspect, more.

Melancholic citizens, Anemic below average unique enough nightlife, Rather plain not very fancy cafes that isn’t quite ubiquitous, Low Decentralization focus too much emphasis on Helsinki only, Far too provincial with Scandinavia/Nordic/Baltic/EU Union/Europe exclusive only (Having to think Mainland Asia/Middle East minimal), Recently stagnant economics, finally rather difficult terrain vicinity habitat.

Sorry, not ranks that up on the trophy awards. Not even in the top 30 objectively. Although, there are ample strengths simultaneously of course. Performing well in measures of Global Peace Index (https://i0.wp.com/meemmagazine.net/w...30%2C315&ssl=1), Annual Money Wealth Salaries, Freedoms, Democracy Governing System, Advancing Science/Technology/Music/Education, Stable Comforts, Some Parts Quality Of Life. Average put together, I am a light fan.

How much of Finland is this beautiful? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...sinki_2012.jpg

It seems that you are missing the point here.
Finland is not happiest country for each random guy from some where else, it's is just happiest country for Finns.

What comes to the economy...On last quarter of 2017 numbers were +3.9%.
You call it stagnant?
More important question is that how in earth you connect states economy to the happiness of general, individual person?

And then nightlife...Lot of bars and restaurants on cities and also at country side if needed to spend time on those but it seems that you don't understand that every one need to fix nightlife for them self.
No one comes to offer every evening that " Here is today's fun nightlife for you".
If you can not see nightlife, it does not mean that it is missing...
In fact, best nightlife is hidden from outsiders example to the summer cottages and party's on archipelago and lake sides.

Finally, difficult terrain vicinity habitat?
Well...Generally, if you put Finn to the forest, he will built cosy cottage there and find something to eat from habitat. And then he/she is happy.
Other hand, if taking random guy from outside of Finland and put him to the forest here, he is not happy and he will die because he don't understand how to play with nature.
For Finn wood/nature is friend and for outsider who don't understand nature,it is enemy.
And by the way,no one here complains "difficult terrain" because it is not.

Sure we have here also persons who thinks that nightclubs and fancy lifestyle is key to the happiness.
We call them kids.
