You're also presuming that India wants all its eggs in one basket. It's not as if India has had a good history of benevolence from West to look at. East Asia has religious ties and is culturally closer to at least two-thirds of India.

China isn't also as widely hated as the Middle East, it's just that the media of India is left-wing and tends to play down the controversy surrounding Muslims.
