Sad.
Seriously? Russians might have one of the biggest persecution complexes but they are are not among the most persecuted groups in the world by any measure, unless you count their history of self-persecution.

What makes you think that the US has become less Islamophobic?

Detroit has been the center if American Islam for generations, the people of Detroit have lived with them for a long time, and have learned to respect them as valued members of their community. Houston is another city in which the Muslim population has left a positive mark and the fairly large Muslim community in Houston is also respected.

If Islamic terrorists would stop bombing the crap out of people all over the world in the name of their religion, then maybe there will be less Islamophobia.

I think the more important long-term question is, in what areas is the muslim population becoming more liberal and secular. In what areas is conservative islam weakening in favor of more "modern" practices? These are the questions that will more meaningfully affect the lives of muslims in the future.

And although some might find it distasteful to admit, these questions are not unrelated to the thread topic.

You don't seem to understand what xenophobia means.

Not sure how anyone could name a specific country outside of their own which is likely subjective but cosmopolitan environments where few notice difference where difference itself is the norm.
That's comical. Islam is an ideology - its a blatantly sexist, homophobic, apostate-discriminating ideology -both explicitly and in practice. Its quite comical that you think enlightened people would be not Islamophobic when its an ideology inconsistent with enlightenment.

Perhaps you mean enlightened people are not biased against muslims (i.e. the believers of the ideology Islam). That makes more sense - one can be tolerant and accepting of people who have ideologies entirely inconsistent with one's own, even inconsistent with human rights per se. The right to believe is respected, whereas the belief itself may or may not be (depending on what the belief is). Ideologies are not the equivalent of race or ethnicity like you seem to think. Those things are involuntary and non-determinative of behavior. On the other hand ideologies are voluntary, not inherent, and because they are ideologies they certainly influence behavior and can even control it.

I'm suspecting you have been "brainwashed" by social media yourself, conflating the ideology with the person.

^^^ Just to play devils advocate ---

Have you considered that many people in the world do not want to take personal responsibility, as individuals, for social organization, and are perfectly happy with the cultural values that have been passed down them by generations?

There are many nations where democracy has failed, simply because the people don't really want it. They would prefer to be led. Similarly, Muslims would rather be directed by Allah and his clerics according to 14 centuries of application. You have no right to sit outside and demand that those people rebel within a faith that has given them comfort. Their militancy is against an enemy, which is you.

In parts of the world where Islam is a visible minority, it is gaining adherents through conversion, and women are adopting the Muslim faith as readily as men. In the UK, three quarters of Muslim converts are women. The faith must be offering them something, that you cannot see, only because the biased presentation of Islam in your sphere does not meet your own personal spiritual needs. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...t-6258015.html
