So, at one point I found a really interesting site which described cities that were most similar to one another throughout the world. Iím sure it wasnít a perfect algorithm but it was an interesting talking bit. Something like you could click and drag over to a city of your choosing (ie, Tokyo, Mexico City, etc) and when you did it gave a bit of an infographic on the place, and say the 20 or so places most similar to it, that generally, though not always, were cheaper. Anyone familiar with this or what itís name would be? Apologies if this would be considered a xompetitor site but I generally think itís quite different in nature.

While neither of these are the exact list (I will keep looking), these ones are fascinating and helpful in their own right. Each list at least in some way for me helps further shape the way I see the world, so I am appreciative.

Next time you come across something interesting - bookmark it! I learned the hard way that finding that again is almost impossible

I really should, that site was especially interesting!

These other sites are all useful and helpful in different ways to, but generally only allow you to look at one or two cities at a time against one another after searching for them. This site actually had a main page that was like a GPS map, or you could click on any one of probably over 500 cities listed, and when you did, it would pull up a general profile of that city, and like 20 cities that are similar to it. I don't exactly know their methodology, but if nothing else, I do think it was somewhat fascinating. The part that lent additional credence to it for me was that there must have been enough consideration of cultural and regional differences, because when I clicked on Tokyo, curious to see whether it would be considered similar to say NYC or London, it wasn't, basically the whole group of cities that shared commonalities with it were in the Asia-Pacific region. Anyways, I definitely have learned my lesson. I've been searching for quite a bit now and I think I'm finally putting the search to rest for sanity and productivity's sake, I almost wonder if a site like that would've perhaps been deleted in the past month or two because perhaps some cities or countries expressed disapproval about their cities being compared to one another.
