I've just returned from a trip to Vienna, Berlin and Amsterdam. I liked the coffee house culture and the magnificent old buildings in Vienna. It is also a very clean city which I find important. Berlin is quite cool. A lot of the style of young people could be described as alternative which is not to my liking. The eastern part has probably the best nightlife although it's slightly dodgy in parts. Berlin is still developing from having been a divided city. I believe at this moment of time Berlin gives a rather confusing and incoherent image to a visitor. Life in Amsterdam is relaxed and progressive.
I might visit Munich (München) or Hamburg in the future. I might like them more than Berlin. Have any of you been there?

I love Munich but to me Hamburg is a bit of a dump. I haven't been for years mind you and it is supposed to be trendy and quite hip now with a lot of modern architecture. Unfortunately for me I have no interest in being hip and modern architecture generally bores me to tears. The thing I remember most about Hamburg were all the really seedy areas, prostitutes, junkies and it really wasn't my cup of tea.
Munich is brilliant though, and of course the rest of Bavaria is lovely too.

I'd say that for me, the city that has become my favorite tourist destination would be Tokyo. The Japanese know how to be polite and civil. They know how to treat others that visit their country. When I would get off a subway train, a security guard would sometimes help me get off, even though I did not ask for it. Now that is really something.
Also, the food in Japan was absolutely awesome and I will never forget it. Tokyo would also be city I'd consider living in for sure

That's just my top 5 and I just have Prague and Marseille left!

Prague I don't know, Amsterdam is OK (don't like the coldish climate, though), the others, I don't like.

Marseille brings up Marcel Pagnol, bouillabaisse, Chateau d'If
and Carcassonne, we made a special stop for its history before heading for Marseille and Cōte d'Azur. Every region in France is unique, and Europe is never boring.
If I'd to chose the cities that I want to revisit and explore further, then they are:
- BudaPest
- St Petersburg
- Yogyakarta
I have many favorite cities on my list, but I've to be contented with only a handful.

Boston is probably my favorite US city.
I hope to check out Prague, Berlin, Munich, and Budapest in the not too distant future.
