How authentic are Iranian restaurants in the US in general? The ones in my city all seem to specialize in grilled meat or stews on rice. There also don't seem to be many vegetarian options in them. I do liked the variety of ways with which they prepare bismati rice, like the one with sour cherries.
Do they serve bread with herbs and feta at the beginning of meals in Iran?

Yes, that is all typical Iranian food. Rice rice rice, with various add-ins. Meat. Stews with meat and vegetables. Bread, herbs, cheese, yogurt. Yep.

Our favorite Persian restaurant has a vegetarian page on the menu, mainly rice dishes, and things like fesenjoon (chicken-walnut-pomegranate stew) with the chicken left out, so it is just a thick sauce you can pour over rice.
