New York City. Have they ever hosted?

A few replies to some posts that have come up. Thanks for participating.

Yeah I cited Rhine-Ruhr that way because of the jointed pit as ProjectMaximus mentions.

Another thing is, from my understanding before it was like Bos-Wash too.. but it isn’t in actuality. Rhine-Ruhr Metro is 2806 miles... DC is 5565. So all those cities would fit into an area half the size of DC metro. Quite shocking really, and I don’t know that there are any other regions quite like that.

I’m not opposed to NYC hosting but it wasn’t listed. The only city from the Americas listed was Buenos Aires (of course, North America is hosting the 2028 games)

I don’t disagree with the points about corruption, but I do think in fairness the IOC has done better with recent bids in keeping costs down and using existing venues.

I agree KL-SG would be interesting... Heat aside. I factored for that in my decision making haha

In general, I don't care that much about the olympics and to be honest for my sake they can arrange them wherever they want but I voted for St Petersburg. It is located in my region and although in a non-EU country, it may help bring in new tourists with their money here too, no matter what they are talking about. Africa - aren't they too poor to host the olympics? India and Indonesia would certainly be more capable candidates. Buenos Aires has just had olympics in their region, the same goes for Shanghai. Australia -no, take a break. They just recently had olympics and overall it is a distant and isolated continent with less residents than the aforementioned city of Shanghai.

1. Johannesburg
2. Cairo
3. Mumbai

Let's give Africa and India a chance to host as they never have before.

our votes go to whichever one pays the IOC the most bribe money.

yes, it is a "should" and not "would" host question.
so...Johannesburg, but Joburg cannot pay their way.

I would rather see a city that has hosted before as the cost to build new facilities is outrageous.

But for a country that has not hosted before and really wants it, have at it.

I voted for Kuala Lumpur/Singapore. Both are beautiful cities and have the financial resources to pull off a great Olympic games.

This is unrelated, but of all the cities you listed, who has a tastier cuisine than Kuala Lumpur/Singapore?
