Apparently Ozzy Osbourne wrote 'Suicide Solution' about Bon Scott's tragic death.

Exactly, people forget that the 70's was the era of mass emigration from the "sick man of Europe". Up to 14 million Brits live abroad and Australia was perhaps the most popular destination at the time. Many Aussie artist were born in UK such as the Bee Gees, Men At Work founder, Colin Hay and a bunch of others.

I was in Tallinn, Helsinki and Turku a few months ago and I can honestly say Bogota is a far more Rock & Roll city than either of those today. Rock bars abound far more and you just feel more of a scene. Young Bogotanos listen to a lot of Rock, those that listen to other genres tend to be migrants from other more tropical cities from the country or Venezuela.

Bogota: What Are You Listening To?
Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Metallica, Apocalyptica, Rammstein, the Killers, Dave Matthews Band, etc.

Compare it to somewhere like Amsterdam and its a world of difference...
Lady Gaga, Tiesto, Stevie Wonder, Adele, Trey Songs, Erykah Badu, John Mayer, etc.

Denmark Street in London still has some good guitar shops, and there are still a lot of rock and metal festivalsthroughouti Europe including the Download and Bloodstock Festivals in the UK.

Yeah I knew most of those except for the part about Ozzy’s song being about Bon’s death.

Actually, Bon Scott wasn’t AC/DC’s original frontman. That was Dave Evans, though he didn’t last long with the band.

On another note, 1980 was a really bad year for rock deaths. Bon Scott, John Bonham, Ian Curtis and Lennon.

They were always dying young, and the UK and especially London had it's fair share from Eddie Cochran, to Jimi Hendrix to Keith Moon, to Phil Lynott and numerous others.

I had no idea that rock music was so popular in Bogota. Some of the bands I grew up with put on the biggest concerts of their careers in cities like Sao Paulo, Rio and Mexico City.

But that was many years ago.

In those days Colombia was in turmoil and I'm sure Mexico City and São Paulo being cities 20 million strong with Rio & Buenos Aires 12 & 15 million respectively you're bound to find a scene even now its died down somewhat. However, Bogotá a city half the size with 7 million, just has more of a general Rock & Pub scene/feel.

Somehow it is quite weird that US has lost rock/heavy rock so badly that there is only 5,5 heavy rock bands/100000 when in Finland figure is now 63 heavy rock bands/100000 ( Biggest number at the whole world, at least we are big on this issue )
But yes, I remember seventies and all that great rock what came from US (CCR was my favorite and still is) and now situation is almost total silence on rock frontier.

I let our Nightwish and Goddess of rock, Floor Jansen, tell more about this issue.

There are a couple of big acts from the US that had a big year back in 2019. Tool and Dream Theater come to mind. If any of the big names from the 70's/80's put out an album, it's going to top the charts. I'm talking about the likes of Metallica, GNR, Aerosmith...

BTW, I really like Nightwish. Can't wait for the next album.
