That's where you need to look at any backup source. Is there critical acclaim? Have they been featured in Billboard, Rolling Stone, npr, etc.? Have they won any awards; Grammy, Loudwire, Brits, MTV? Have they played major festivals; Glastonbury, SXSW, Coachella, Womad, Roskilde, Lollapalooza, Primavera, etc.? How big is the audience? - You don't amass gold discs or hundreds of millions of youtube views without prooving a point. So no a YouTube video is not enough but the details and critiques around it are.

If visiting and just randomly walking/looking around to find "Rock bars", it is quite much like mission impossible.
Helsinki and Turku have rock-bars but that is not a trend here, clubs are(Oldest from 50's).
Also bigger restaurants have rock-weekends and then there can be several bands playing...And then there are theaters also having rock evenings.
It is not business to keep a bar where capacity is 30-150 clients and some band playing every evening, in Bogota that can be the case but not here.

Also need to remember that in Bogota population is 7000000+ and in whole Finland around 5500000...So you just can compare Bogota and some city from Finland and make conclusions of rock bars...
Here is tip: If visiting here at summertime, most rock happenings for sure are on country side and lake/sea shores(Festivals, concerts, etc)
At summer time for every week and almost every day you can find live rock.

And now fact: in Finland we have 70,2 heavy bands per 100000 residents, it seems that Colombia have around 2 bands per 100000 residents and now you are telling that you can not find rock from here...and Colombia is more rock than Finland? Okay then....

Some video footage from local rock club, country side concert(Area of my home town), etc.
Next time when visiting(If) here, then you may know better...

Club Tavastia

From my area(Concert/bars area):

Free street rock concert(Now and then cities will have some celebrate days):

Custom Culture Fair (Yep, we have fairs for rock too)

In Bogota some chicks may like rock but our chicks also plays rock:

Outdoor concert (Leading Finnish band, points direction to modern rock)

One example of rock band for younger generation:

Christmas is also rock and singers (example from Deep Purple and Uriah Heep) comes to Finland and sing Christmas songs with heavy note. This is tradition.

And last one, rock movie (around 20 % of new domestic movies are music movies)

Mmmm, I'm not buying that. The notion that AC/DC are the Australian version of KISS is laughable. Truer to say that AC/DC are the antonym of KISS. Most hard rock is fairly simplistic and of course rooted in the blues. Schoolboy outfits? Plural? One member wore an outfit. Not the full band in full makeup and dress up costumes.

Compare album to album, say 1980, Back in Black V Unmasked.....

Take a look the Billboard 200 and see how many guitar-based acts are listed on there, and how many are contemporary...
https://www.billboard.com/charts/billboard-200

Then compare it with what the same billboard was like in 2005 https://www.billboard.com/charts/bil...200/2005-01-15

1995
https://www.billboard.com/charts/bil...200/1995-01-14

and 1985,

Pretty quickly you'll realize that talking about rock music in 2020 means talking about a defunct.

There is definitely a market in the Dominican Republic, but its almost entirely limited to urban areas from upper middle class and up. Usually, Latin American and American rock bands are very popular. Locally grown bands are also listen too.

Example of Dominican rock.

BTW, I really like Nightwish. Can't wait for the next album.
Me too,I'm also a Nighwish fan

In absolutely any region a solid equal amount. Ubiquitous ever since the beginning. Universal and Worldly to society, and people. Without pinpointing on just some exact geographic coordinates. Never any corruption or lost of access. To every age group. Not just below 30 years old. Wealthy, Poor, Middle Class and whatever exact daily lifestyle various individuals are fully expressing.

Throughout Europe, Asia, Middle East.

Of course, Americas, Oceania, and Africa too.

1. I've seen those semi-nonsense and European-biased ratings but even then Colombia always hits around 30 metal bands/100k not 2.

2. I was solely talking about Bogotá not Colombia. In fact Bogotá is starkly different from the rest of Colombia. Many travellers hate it because it doesn't fit their stereotype, walking off the plane in shorts & thongs/sandals.

Japan it's still popular for teens both boys and girls to start a band.

Power pop being the more popular style.

Looks like a bunch of poster girls with little substance to me. And when there's substance its usuallly a pretty poster girl any way.

Colombia's most commercially successful Rock-Alternative band is led by a woman (from Bogotá of course).
Maybe you should set foot in Bogotá before you make assumptions like I've travelled around your country going out to bars & alt-neighbourhoods.

Aterciopelados (LIVE) 2xPlatinum, Rolling Stones magazine honour, Grammy winners.

Bogotá chicks don't play rock the hater says..

Polikarpa

All live & unplugged
Going to Rock Al Parque in Bogotá will blow your mind or send you into a tumultuous, envious rage. One or the other.
