here, take it from a Sicilian.. there is a President of Sicily. Sicilia is an autotonomist region of Italy. Basically they recieved the right, after 1946, to govern themseleves. So yes there is a President of Sicilia, elected by a seperate election from the President and Prime Minister of Italy.
Also..
Sicily may not be the richest region in Italy however we're not peasants.. unlike how the world views us. Point being that our economic standing doesn't effect out political views toward seperatism, many Sicilians do wish for greater autonomy or complete secession. The Italian Republic gives us little to support our economy. Sicilians and Sicily are self sufficant.
