There’s a reason that quintessentially British novel on British class, manners, and society pre-WW2, TheRemainsof the Day, was so insightfully written by a Japanese-British person.
I know the book and have seen the film adaptation (which is amazing btw) but I don't see how the ethnicity of the author has anything to do with Japanese and English cultures being similar. At best they run parallel to one another in the sense that they are both relevant island nations and have had wars with continental powers. That's about it really.

I would say USA and Japan = Hawaii (although not a country but it would be like it)
Japan and England = Fiji
China and England = Singapore
Germany and Switzerland = Austria
France and Netherlands = Belgium
Canada and Sweden = Iceland
Russia and Poland = Ukraine
Turkey and Greece = Cyprus
Greece and Italy = Malta
This is fun. However, I would say
Italy and England = Malta
Greece + Russia = Bulgaria
Greece + Russia + but one of the grandmothers is Italy = Romania
Romania + Germany=Hungary
Serbia + Italy= Croatia
Germany + Germany=Austria
Germany + Italy= Switzerland
Germany + England = Netherlands
Germany + Sweden = Denmark
Latvia + Poland=Lithuania
Russia + Egypt = Turkmenistan
