Not according to this article:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...ous-countries/

Instead of mentioning Danmark and Norway you might have mentioned the very Christian countries Colombia and Venezuela which aren't the most moderate and safest countries in the world.

I think you are trying to link "unpleasant" countries to non-Christian countries. The fact that a country is considered "unpleasant" has more to do with things like poverty, dicatorship and not respecting human rights than being a non Christian country.

First - Cambodia is not an atheist country. It is officially Buddhist, and Buddhism is practiced by over 95% of the population (per wikipedia).

Anyway, of the countries listed, the ones I am most interested in visiting would be Iran (Islamic) and Cuba ('atheistic'). The ones I would be least interested in would be Brunei (Islamic) and North Korea ('atheist'). That said, if I was offered a free trip to any of these, I would jump at the chance. Of the ones listed, the only one I have been to is Vietnam, which I loved. In other words, I would look at each country individually to see if I was interested in visiting, not just lump all Islamic countries of 'atheist' countries together.

If instead of asking about which you would rather visit, the question was would you rather LIVE in an Islamic State or an Atheist State, it would still be on a case-by-case basis (I would probably rather live in UAE than North Korea, and rather live in China than Afghanistan) and it would still involve other factors ahead of the official religion, but I would be a lot more reluctant to go than if I was just visiting.

Having been to serveral majority islamic countries already, Iran and Saudi Arabia are two places I would love to Visit. Mostly for the History and the Food.

I have actually been to 4 of the 5 athiest counties listed, not saying they lack good food or hisotory, however I have already been to them.

I think it’s a mistake to view countries like China and North Korea as atheist, which is little more than a rejection of a deity.

Add Turkey to Islamic states to make it more fair.
Instead of 'Atheist' put 'Communist' or you have to add Japan/Singapore to the second list.

I think the question should be where are you most in danger if you proclaim to be anything but what the state belief system allows? Obviously, North Korea tops the list, but I don’t think Saudi or many other Muslim countries are too far behind.

My thoughts exactly. They both sound equally terrible.

I left out "Christian states" as they include very moderate, relatively safe western nations like Greece, Georgia, Malta, Denmark, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, among a few others. So the Islamic and atheist states wouldn't stand a chance.
It’s not so simplistic, I’d prefer live in Iran than North Korea but I’d prefer live in Vietnam than Saudi Arabia

I think Malawi has a church for every 130 people in the country - so wanna include that in your “Christian Country” list?
Or how about Honduras where there is a church in every other street and almost everyone is a catholic but it has the worlds highest rate of female homicide?
