Only 30 days to go and Rio receives the highest report from IOC
" Rio de Janeiro's bid to take the Olympics to South America for the first time in 2016 gained further momentum Wednesday when the Brazilian city came off best in a technical evaluation of the four candidate cities.
Chicago, meanwhile, came in for some pointed negative comments - including its financial guarantees and public transportation - and Madrid and Tokyo also took some direct hits from the International Olympic Committee."

i voted for Madrid. No offense to america but i like to not see the olympics every other year in America. i want some diversity. After all the Olympics is a time for people of all nations to come together

If Chicago gets the 2016 Games, it will have been 20 years since the games were in Atlanta. Plus, putting the games in Madrid means back-to-back Olympics in Europe. Your statement makes no sense.

WHEN I WAS IN THE NAVY WE WERE SUPPOSE TO GO THERE BUT THEY SAID THAT THE CRIME WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND IT WOULD NOT BE IN OUR BEST INTEREST. DAMN NAVY!

None of the above? If I had to choose I'd pick Madrid. Spain never gets as much attention as it deserves in the various sports they excel at. I think they deserve it. Having the olympics in the US sounds chaotic at this point, South America sounds too likely to be a crime driven olympics and they just had it in Asia.

OK, so 2002 for Salt Lake. That'll be 14 years, and I'm not aware of any effort to bring the Winter Games back to the U.S. anytime soon.
