1. London
2. New York
3. Tokyo
4. Hong Kong-Singapore
5. Frankfurt-Paris
First tier, based on financial and/or trade flows (this may change in next decade).
The rest, in no particular order:
Dubai
Chicago
San Francisco-Vancouver
Rio de Janeiro
Mumbai
Amsterdam
Milan
Madrid
Toronto
Sydney
Seoul
Miami-Houston
Shanghai
What are the up and coming cities in southeast Asia in terms of financial and trade flows, maybe one or two in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia? How do they compare to Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai now and going forward?
In terms of history and culture, Rome and Venice, almost any place in Sicily, Thessaloniki and other points in Greece, Cordoba, Granada, Lisbon and others in Portugal, especially Algarve and Braga (but I'm a bit biased in that respect). Also towns and cities in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco must be fascinating.
